Muriel Zingraff of Land Securities discusses the role of a CEO in luxury business

On Thursday 21st March 2019, Muriel Zingraff was on campus speaking in-class exclusively to the MBA Luxury Brand Management students about her career and specifically about airport retailing and the Duty Free Shopping market for personal luxury goods. Muriel has a wealth of experience having been Retail Director for Heathrow Airport and Board Director at Harrods (responsible for women’s fashion, shoes, accessories and cosmetics). She was CEO at Paco Rabanne and also held senior executive positions at Jimmy Choo and La Quinta. Currently Muriel is working for Land Securities (Real Estate). Muriel talked about the role of a CEO in luxury business and offered advice on career paths leading to the top.

The MBA students also learned about the cosmetics industry from her time at L’Oréal, along with valuable insights into negotiating commercial contracts across distribution channels (franchising, concessions and licensing agreements). This talk supported the Luxury Perspectives and Practice module.

MBA Luxury Brand Management student Marcus Freeman, Founder & CEO Kuwee Ltd comments:

“Thank you for arranging the speakers today. What an incredible experience and I gained so much listening to their wisdom. I cannot speak highly enough of you and all the lecturers…what a great experience for me.”
