08 May Luxury students gain insight to diamond trading
Did you know?
According to Bruce Cleaver, CEO of DeBeers diamonds are rare because:
In the history of diamond exploration and mining, 7000 Kimberlites have been discovered. Kimberlite is the host rock in which diamonds are found. Of those 7000 only 1000 contained any diamonds at all. Of those 1000 only 60 contain diamonds in enough volumes or quality to be economically extractable. And of those, only seven, which is 0.1% of the Kimberlites ever found, have yielded virtually all the diamonds that are in the world today.
British School of Fashion students on the luxury masters programmes were treated to a lecture, talk and workshop on diamonds and precious stones by two leading industry figures: Monica, a diamond trader for over twenty years and now Managing Director of MCB Diamonds in Hatton Garden London, and Helena, Managing Director of HYC Jewels. Both generously shared their expertise and insights into trading and valuing diamonds and precious stones (rubies, sapphires and emeralds).
