Dr Ruth Marciniak

Programme Director MSc International Fashion Marketing
Employed as a Senior Lecturer in eMarketing/eBranding at GCU London since 2012. Ruth is the Programme Leader for MSc International Fashion Marketing. Prior to this appointment, she worked at London Metropolitan University as a Programme Leader for fashion undergraduate programmes. Her current teaching commitments include PhD supervision and, to date, has had two successful PhD completions. Her areas of teaching are ebranding, emarketing, luxury strategy and fashion logistics. In all, Ruth has worked in academia for over 25 years.

Ruth completed her PhD in 2007 from Manchester University. Her PhD research examined strategy planning processes relating to the development of eCommerce within fashion retail companies. Her current research interests include examination of selfies as a form of earned media within fashion marketing and, in addition, an exploration of luxury consumption amongst Middle Eastern females.

Ruth has published in academic journals including the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management. In addition, over the past 2 decades she has presented her research work at conferences including the British Academic of Management (BAM) and The European Institute of Retail and Services Studies (EIRASS).

Ruth has held a number of External Examinerships including at the University of Northumbria, University of Paisley, University of Westminster, Trinity College, Dublin, University of Glamorgan and currently, University of Bournemouth and University of West London.
